Good solid performance and two excellent goals from Gary Noel and Chris Piper. Actually there were 3 good goals but in general we limited them to few chances and hit the post twice ourselves. Altogether a good display.

From the Ebbsfleet website:

"Trialist Craig Stone netted for the Fleet in tonight's pre-season friendly against Ryman Premier new boys Croydon Athletic but it wasn't enough to avoid a repeat scoreline of Saturday for the Stonebridge Road faithful.
Liam Daish handed the impressive former Stevenage and Slough winger Tyrone Sealey a start, added striker Joe Benjamin (Northampton, Eastbourne) to the ranks and also took the chance for another look at Ashley Carew and French defender Nicolas Plumain.

But the visitors were in charge on 10 minutes, prolific ex-Harrow frontman Gary Noel converting past Preston Edwards. Managed by ex-Gillingham man and Grays boss Tim O'Shea and former Woking midfielder and Welling boss Neil Smith who still combines his duties with a playing role, the lively Ryman side were providing a good test for the Fleet.

But with 10 minutes remaining of the first half, Sealey set up his third goal of pre-season, crossing for Stone to head home - a move that will have done neither of them any harm in pursuit of a contract.

Just before the hour mark, however, Croydon nosed in front. Ex-Bromley striker and Welsh U21 international Gareth Williams - the namesake of the Fleet's substitute goalkeeper - was the man to score the crucial goal and leave the home side still searching for their first win of these friendly matches." (ed. they made a mistake with the 2nd scorer but a fair report)
